‘Click It or Ticket’ mobilized

'Click It or Ticket' mobilized Law enforcement agencies across South Dakota joined the 12,000 law enforcement agencies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico who are cracking down on people who don't buckle up and don't buckle up kids beginning May 19 during the national "Click It or Ticket Mobilization," which runs through the Memorial Day holiday weekend, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Teens and young adults are killed at far higher rates in crashes because they are in a lethal intersection of inexperience, risk taking and low safety belt use. These tragedies are predictable and preventable. High visibility enforcement of safety belt laws will help prevent needless injuries and deaths. According to NHTSA, safety belts are estimated to reduce the risk of fatal injury by 45 percent and reduce the risk of serious injury by 50 percent.
