Local students graduate from UNL

Local students graduate from UNL Approximately 2,100 students received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in commencement exercises May 10 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

James W. Cronin of the University of Utah, who shared the 1980 Nobel Prize in physics with Merriman, NE, native Val Fitch for work they did at Princeton University, gave the address.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman presided over the ceremony, which included graduates from 44 states, 47 countries and Puerto Rico.

Graduates from Vermillion are Eric Johnson, who received a juris doctorate degree with distinction, and Molly Karmazin and Mark Lavin, who both received doctor of dental surgery degrees.
