SDPB TV presents encore of spectacular shows From June 2-8, SDPB Television will air an encore of its most popular programs including shows like Soaring South Dakota, Daniel O'Donnell and Friends; Lawrence Welk: God Bless America; Suze Orman: The Laws of Money, The Lessons of Life; and Red Green's Duct Tape Forever.
SDPB Television will also introduce South Dakotans to a brand-new program � The Chieftains: Down the Old Plank Road.
Soaring South Dakota
Monday, June 2, 7 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 5 p.m. SDPB Television's cameras take flight for an aerial look at South Dakota.
From the rolling prairies to the rugged Black Hills, South Dakota's beauty dazzles. Soaring South Dakota showcases the state in winter, summer, fall and spring. Viewers are invited along for the ride.
The Chieftains: Down the Old Plank Road
Monday, June 2, 8 p.m. New to SDPB Television this June is The Chieftains: Down the Old Plank Road, a program featuring this legendary Irish band. In September 2002, a once-in-a-lifetime concert was filmed at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium. Pairing top country and bluegrass stars and the Chieftains, this event celebrates the ties that bind Ireland's enduring musical heritage to the heartland of America.
The concert was the final performance of Chieftain Derek Bell, who had been with the band for nearly 30 years. He died shortly after the concert. Joining the Chieftains are Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Earl Scruggs, Ricky Skaggs, Patty Griffin, the Del McCoury Band, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Jeff White, Tim O'Brien and John Hiatt.
Daniel O'Donnell & Friends
Tuesday, June 3, 8 p.m.; Saturday, June 7, 6:30 p.m. Daniel O'Donnell, one of the hottest new entertainers, swept South Dakota during its first airing in March 2003. Viewers won't want to miss this! An Irish singing sensation, he mixes pop, country and Irish songs, and shares the stage with favorite performers and friends.
Lawrence Welk: God Bless America
Wednesday, June 4, 7 p.m.; Sunday, June 8, 5:30 p.m. Lawrence Welk fans checking out this new special better be prepared with a box of tissues. Lawrence Welk: God Bless America is full of rousing patriotic tunes that leave a person proud to be an American.
Suze Orman: The Laws of Money, The Lessons of Life
Friday, June 7, 7 p.m. Suze Orman: The Laws of Money, The Lessons of Life is based on Orman's book of the same title. In this special, Orman describes these financial "laws" and how we can best utilize them. Given the economic crises of the recent past, Orman will be giving particular attention to helping people protect what they already have.
The issues Orman will cover include:
* prioritizing and securing what is most important to us;
* honesty in our financial lives;
* focusing on what we have, not what we had;
* avoiding "all or nothing" investing;
* examining the full range of financial choices we make, from credit card debt to paying off our mortgages;
* and recognizing when we have "enough."
