Stewart medalist at invite; match involves six schools by Jim Prosser The VHS girls' golf team played in the Sioux City North High School Invitational on Monday, April 28.
The nine-hole competition, played at Sioux City Country Club, involved the four local Sioux City high schools, Le Mars, and Vermillion.
Medalist, with a score of 34, was Allison Stewart, who led the Tanager team to first place in the tournament with a total score of 164. North and Heelan
were tied for second with 193, East 219, Le Mars 225, and West, 293.
The other Vermillion team members and their scores were: Karrie Plate � second (37), Jackie Thomas � fifth (46), Dru VanKley � sixth (47), and Ashley Bjorkman � ninth (48) .
"Our girls can play even better than they demonstrated today, and, while we had a win, we can improve our intensity in each upcoming match," said coach Kirk Hogen. "There's no limit to what they might accomplish."
