Tanager baseball team ends season with loss in regional by Jim Prosser As the #4 seed in Region 3B, the VHS baseball team hosted seed #5 (Irene/Viborg/Wakonda Gamecocks) at Prentis Park in Vermillion last Monday, May 12.
Dan Holoch started and went 6 1/3 innings, giving up six runs (three unearned), on six hits, registering four walks and six K's. Kevin Bleil completed the game with no further damage. Errors were key to the scoring for both teams as the Gamecocks' Matt Sees had to overcome five errors in his pitching record of five runs (two unearned) on seven hits, striking out eight batters to register the win.

Leading the VHS varsity offense: Holoch, who was two for four batting, scored a run and had an RBI. Bleil went one for three, scored one, and one RBI. B.J. Campbell scored a run on one for three hitting. Andy Ofstehage and Jason Donald each scored a run, and Kyle Mollet drove in a run going two for three at the bat. Drew Lawrence went one for three batting.
The loss ends the Tanager baseball season with a six win, eight loss record, but look forward a couple weeks and Legion Post #1 baseball will be in action for most of the summer.
