Times to be arranged Men's League team scramble. Make your own tee times. Winner-take-all prize.
On May 8, the first activity for the league teams will be a "team scramble" with a "winner take all" prize for the best team score.
Regular league competition begins on May 15 with 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. shotgun starts using all tee boxes on the front nine. The summer season will run every Thursday, through Aug. 14, and then there will be a final elimination tournament, involving all teams, until a champion is determined, some time in September.
Team captains and/or sponsors should turn in a roster of their team, name of team, and league dues to the pro shop crew as soon as possible.
The scoring system will be the same as that used during the 2002 season. Match is worth two points, medal is worth two points, and each hole won is worth one point, and one point is added to the best medal total for both rounds each week for a total of 23 points.
Also remember, this is a handicap league. You must renew your handicap in order to
activate your previous record. New members need to record at least five scores in order to create a handicap. Pay your fees soon!
Senior Men's Fun
The weather featured sub-60 degree temperatures, strong southeast winds, and a generous cloud cover as 26 seniors came to The Bluffs ready to brave the elements April 29. We escaped with no rain and even a trace of sunshine late in the round.
Our winning team of Ross Johnson, Howard Connors and Ted Van Bruggen came in with an even par 36 featuring birdies on #12, #15, and #17, but marred by bogies on #11, #13, and #18. Congratulations men on a fine round.
Our other prize winners were, at 37, Mo Marcotte, Bob Lund, and Pat Boyle and the team of Harlan Schott, Bill Rasmussen, and Ray Lynn and, at 38, Shorty Hanson and Jim Grabowski playing as a two-man team and finally, at 39, Vern Holter, Jim Reed, and Dave Zimmer.
There were eight birdies this date and our top four teams scored them all. Our shot-of-the-day goes to Bill Rasmussen for his 33-foot birdie putt on #18 and Ross Johnson for his 26-foot birdie putt on #12.
With unsettled weather in the offering, we will extend our spring schedule another week. See you at The Bluffs for food and conversation at 11:30 a.m. and golf on our fine course at 12:30 p.m. See you there.
