United Way holds appreciation event

United Way holds appreciation event United Way of Vermillion celebrated National Volunteer Week with an evening appreciation reception for charter members of the Heart Club on Wednesday, April 30, at the USD Foundation. Heart Club members are individuals and couples who are willing and able to contribute $500 or more to United Way in support of its agencies and programs.

United Way agency representatives, Heart Club members, and members of the United Way of Vermillion Board of Directors enjoyed appetizers which were prepared by Jon Robertson, manager of the Cherry Street Grille. Robertson donated the appetizers for the occasion.

During a short program, agency representatives presented certificates of charter membership in the Heart Club to members who were in attendance, including Carol Voss-Ward (Lutheran Social Services Consumer Credit Counselor), Gayle Bliss (USD/ Vucurevich Children's Center), Lisa Ketcham (United Way board member and Heart Club member), Theresa Wingen (United Way board member and Heart Club member), Maxine Johnson (Friends of the W.H. Over Museum), Merle Eintracht (director, USD/Vucurevich Children's Center), and Carol Robertson and son, Nathan, Heart Club member, Barbara Campbell, (executive director of United Way of Vermillion and Heart Club member), Ted Muenster (United Way board member and Heart Club member), Robert Mayer (United Way board member and Heart Club member), Mary Merrigan (United Way board member), Jack Powell (Heart Club member), Harland Durkin (Heart Club member), Max Anderson (Heart Club member), Barb Goodman (Center for Children and Families and Heart Club member), Pat Wingen (Heart Club member), Gene Lunn (Heart Club Member), Janis Johnson (United Way board member), Randy Houska (United Way board member and Heart Club member), Maryln Harnois (executive director, Vermillion Senior Citizens), Gary Girard (United Way Board member), Corey Davis (regional representative, Boy Scouts of America), Jon Robertson (United Way board member and Heart Club member) and John Gille (director, Big Friends/Little Friends, Inc.).
