USD receives NIH grant

USD receives NIH grant Senator Tom Daschle has announced that The University of South Dakota has received a $262,256 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to fund research into possible treatments for a variety of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and multiple sclerosis.

"I am pleased that the NIH has recognized the potential of USD to be a leader in health-care research," Daschle said. "This grant will help the university continue its cutting edge efforts to find new treatments for these diseases."

The title of USD's grant is "Clinical Research into Signaling Mechanisms in Oligodendrocytes."
