USD SIFE team wins regional competition In addition to the Regional Champion award, the USD SIFE team was also a finalist in two other competition categories: National Entrepreneurship Month and National Ethics Month.
SIFE encourages students to take what they are learning in the classroom, apply it to real-life situations, and to use their knowledge to better their communities through educational outreach projects.
A few of the projects presented by the USD SIFE Team were the "Best in the Midwest Ice Cream Business Competition" which involved eighth-graders in four states, "Financial Freedom" that educated soon-to-be released prison inmates on financial issues, and the Internet business simulation "Choose Your Own Business Adventure."
Teams were judged on the effectiveness of their projects during a 24-minute presentation and were evaluated on creativity and innovation, results of education programs, success in utilizing resources and documentation of activities. Regional champions named at 22 competitions held around the country will present their projects at the 2003 SIFE USA National Exposition, hosted by the Kansas City Business Community, May 11-13 in Missouri.
The national champion in the four-year division will travel to Frankfurt, Germany, to compete at SIFE World Cup 2003, Oct. 12-14.
