VHS girls' track team earns third place at EP by Jim Prosser The Tanager girls' track and field team competed on Thursday, April 24 with six other schools in the rescheduled Huskies Invitational at the Elk Point sports complex.
The Tanagers' Anne Carlson scored in four events, placing first in the triple jump with a 32'4.25" leap, taking second in the long jump, and fourth in the high jump, while also anchoring the second place 4×100 relay. Jenna Gilkyson, Nicki Nelson, and Heather Heine were the other members of that team .
Linsay Kenton, returning from an early season injury, placed second in the 100m hurdles and fifth in the 300m hurdles.
The dashes had Nelson in second for the 100m, and Brittney Gilkyson fifth in the 200m.
Theresa Ring placed fifth in the 1600m run, and Kayla Nelson was fourth in the 3200m run.
The 4×800 relay team was second (Morgan Brooks, Kati Dehner, Kayla Mollet, and K. Nelson); and second place was claimed by the 4×200 relay team (J. Gilkyson, Nicki Nelson, H. Heine, and B. Gilkyson).
Tanager girls' team total was 72 for a third place in the meet. Beresford and Canton were first and second.
