Wakonda wins fourth at SDSU physics bowl by Stacy Huber Tod Bak's physics class attended the SDSU Physics Bowl XXIX held in conjunction with the Engineering Expo on Friday, April 25. A team of three students, Emma Jensen, Paul Brusnicky, and Matt Jorgensen, entered this physics quiz bowl and represented Wakonda High School well.
They placed fourth behind Flandreau, Brandon Valley, and Lincoln High School.
The contest takes about an hour and questions were based on topics such as basic mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, basic electricity, optics and famous physicists. Answers were scored according to accuracy and/or speed. The team received a plaque and members were awarded $15 each for their efforts.
Other activities during the day were competitions in bridge building, airplane toss, rocket car, scrambler, write it/do it, and an obstacle course. Results were not in at press time as to how well Wakonda students did in those competitions. College-level exhibits were displayed and students were encouraged to meet kids from other schools.
