A sad tale, twice told; twin bill loss by Post #1 by Jim Prosser The results of the first game of day play at Prentis Park pitted Vermillion Post #1 against Mitchell Post #14 on Friday, June 20. A well-pitched game by both pitchers left the final score to be determined by the defenses.

Line score: Mitchell 3 runs, 5 hits, 1 error; Vermillion 1 run, 6 hits, 5 errors.

Kevin Bleil lost the hard luck game in spite of giving up one earned run on five singles, three walks and four Ks. He also picked off two runners.

The winner was Post #14's Philip Johnson who had a better defense behind his six hit, one run, three K, one double play stint.

The only Vermillion run was a squeeze play completed by Collin Prosser bunting and Ben Oberle scoring on the sacrifice RBI. BJ Campbell was 2-4 batting.

The final game of the day was a no run, one hit win for the visitor's Ryan Krome who came into the final inning with a perfect game, almost in his grasp, only to lose the no/no when Andy Ofstehage lined a double to right field for the only Vermillion celebration of the day.

Line score: Mitchell 12 runs, 11 hits, 1 error; Vermillion 0 runs, 1 hit, 3 errors.
