Carlisle receives scholarship Jay Carlisle, a graduate student in the department of biology at The University of South Dakota, has been awarded a South Dakota Ornithologist' Union's Kenneth H. Husmann Memorial Scholarship for 2003-04. The award will apply toward his study for the doctor of philosophy degree at USD.
Carlisle's research involves stopover biology of migrating woodland birds in conifer forest and sagebrush steppe habitats of western North America.
The scholarship honors the late Kenneth H. Husmann, Brookings, who devoted many years to wildlife conservation and environmental concern in South Dakota.
