City-wide rummage sale June 28 in Wakonda The Wakonda Community Club will sponsor Wakonda's annual city-wide rummage sale on Saturday, June 28. Those wishing to participate in the event need to register by June 25 to be included on the rummage map, which will show locations and descriptions of items being sold at the various sites.
Maps will be available for shoppers at Derby's One Stop, the post office, and at First Premier Bank starting June 27.
"We have a golden opportunity for a huge turn out since our rummage sale is once again set for the same weekend as the Girard Auction Service's two-day vintage farm equipment and antique auction," said Judi Sharples, who is compiling the map.
Last year, more than 1,200 people came to Wakonda for the auction. This year, the Girards are expecting an even greater turnout.
"It's going to be huge with close to 200 tractors and 110 collectible cars to be sold on Saturday alone," said Pat Girard.
Organizations or individuals wishing to participate in the rummage sale should contact Charmaine Gullikson, or drop off their registration at First Premier Bank as soon as possible.
"It's a good deal to get on the map, and there is no charge," said Gullikson.
