Des Moines BBB to service former Sioux City BBB area The Better Business Bureau of Des Moines, Inc. has been named by the Council of Better Business Bureaus to service 26 of the 30 counties formerly serviced by the Siouxland BBB which ceased operations as of April 30.

While the Des Moines BBB office had been temporarily serving the former Siouxland BBB since April 30, the CBBB Board of Directors, Arlington, VA, made the permanent appointment on June 2.

In naming the Des Moines BBB to take over the 26 counties in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, Ron Berry, senior vice president, CBBB, said "the Des Moines Bureau has had an outstanding track record for its 63 years and has been recognized nationally numerous times in the past for its creative and innovative programming."

Mary Kruger Eyler, president and CEO of the BBB of Des Moines, and a 21-year veteran of the bureau system, said, "she and her staff are looking forward to meeting the Sioux City area member businesses and developing programs and services accordingly."

The Des Moines Bureau will service 21 counties in northwest Iowa as well as Dixon, Dakota and Thurston counties in Nebraska and Clay and Union counties in South Dakota. Sioux Falls, located in Minnehaha County, and Lincoln, Turner and Yankton counties, will be serviced by the Better Business Bureau of Omaha, NE.

Kruger Eyler said that according to several former Sioux City BBB board members, the Siouxland BBB had experienced financial difficulties in the past year and also recently received the resignation of their president and CEO.

The Des Moines Better Business Bureau office was incorporated in 1940 to service 71 counties in Iowa. A branch office was opened in the Quad Cities in 1980 to provide more service in eastern Iowa which includes Rock Island County in Illinois. The bureau currently has 3,400 members.
