Great Strides raises $640 for CF Foundation Over $640 was raised by 10 participants in the Great Strides Walk to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Vermillion, according to Lori Salonen, RT at Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Center and chairperson of the event.
The money raised from the Great Strides Walk held on May 14 will fund research for a cure for cystic fibrosis (CF). CF is a genetic disease affecting 30,000 children and adults in the United States.
"The participants, all Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Center employees, can feel good about their part in raising money to keep the Foundation on the forefront of medical science," said Salonen.
Karen Klave, employed in the Nutrition Services Department of Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Center, walked 2.5 miles and raised $374.
"Karen was such an enthusiastic fund raiser. She rallied support from co-workers, friends and businesses in Vermillion. It was great to see such energy and excitement in her fund raising," said Salonen. "Thanks are extended to all participants and to Sioux Valley Vermillion for being willing to sponsor this event. I am proud of the amount raised for our first year and look forward to opening this up to the community at large next year."
