Using an apprentice scorekeeper, it's tough to give a complete rundown of the games. But here are some high/low lites!
The first game went six innings and the losing pitcher was Dan Holoch. He threw a good game but critical walks and errors gave the North "Stars" an opportunity to score eight of their 14 runs when there were two outs in a inning. Offensively, Eric Rickord, Drew Lawrence and Holoch, each had two hits.
The second game went eight innings as Kevin Bleil pitched a gem, giving up seven hits and five earned runs. Trailing 6-1 after four innings, Post #1 rallied in the fifth to score four and narrow the gap.
Andy Ofstehage hit a shot to drive in Kyle Mollet and the game was tied. In the extra inning, Vermillion had the lead run on second but couldn't drive it home. SC North then scored the winner off a double to left field, making the early season record 0-2.
