Post #1 suffers double-header loss by Jim Prosser Vermillion Post #1 played a second double header in two days as they faced Lennox on Saturday, June 21.
The first game pitted Kyle Mollet against Paul Ellefson and he came up on the short end of a 7-2 final score. Mollet pitched a respectable six innings, registering nine Ks and six walks, but nine hits along with five team errors led to the lopsided score.
Line score: Lennox � 7 runs, 9 hits, 1 error, 11 lob; Vermillion � 2 runs, 4 hits, 5 errors, 5 lob.
The only Vermillion runs came on sac flies � one each by Eric Rickord and Drew Lawrence. Kevin Bleil and Rickord were the scorers. Eric also was 2-2 batting.
The second game was nearly a mirror image of the opening game as Post #1 fell behind 6-0 midway through the third inning before making a comeback, scoring two runs in each of the next three to tie the score.
Lennox scored the winning run after two outs, a base on balls to pitcher Clayton Wulf, followed by an RBI single for Paul Ellefson.
Line score: Lennox � 7 runs, 6 hits, 4 error; Vermillion � 6 runs, 6 hits, 1 error.
BJ Campbell scored twice from his leadoff spot. Kevin Bleil went 2-4 with a run and an RBI; Drew Lawrence and Alan Bos each were 1-3, scoring 1; Kyle Mollet scored a run on 1-4 batting; and Andy Ofstehage had an RBI on a sac fly.
Bleil was the victim of the last inning score, which makes his season record 1-3.
The team's double loss moves its record to 7-9.
