SDGA conducts Junior Golf tour by Jim Prosser The 2003 South Dakota Golf Association Junior Golf Tour consists of 12 tournaments, three each being held in four sections of the state.
Juniors can accumulate points for finishes in their own sectional tourneys, but may enter any other section's meets to compete for prizes (but not for points). Top finishers in each section will be invited to a team competition in Pierre at the end of the season.
The first southeast tournament was held in Sioux Falls at Elmwood Golf Course on June 9.
The competition involves boys and girls in four age groups for each � 11U, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-17.
Vermillion entrants with their scores and places at Elmwood were:
11 U: Aaron Steele � 51, seventh.
12-13: Jordan Boots � 83, third (tie, won on scorecard break); Alex Schaack � 81, first (tie, won on scorecard).
14-15: Ryan Powell � 85, 11th.
16-17: Chris Moen � 82, eighth (tie); Brad Schaack � 78, fifth (won on scorecard tie); Nathan Boots � 76, third (tied for second but lost on scorecard).
The next two competitions will be at Yankton Fox Run Golf Course on June 20, and Central Valley Golf Course in Hartford on June 24.
