YBA planned for BHSU, USD The campus at BHSU in Spearfish will be host campus for 110 high school seniors, 10 business executives and 10 educators. The students and educators represent 45 high schools across the state. On Sunday, June 8, they will register for the first session of the 24th annual Youth Business Adventure (YBA) program. Students will spend the week gaining vital information about the business world from those who work and live in that world.
The second YBA session will be held June 22-27 on the campus of The University of South Dakota in Vermillion, with 150 seniors, 12 business executives and 12 educators. The educators and students represent 56 South Dakota high schools.
The South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a statewide business organization located in Pierre, has sponsored YBA since 1980. The program is fully funded through contributions from SDCCI members and othe South Dakota businesses and individuals.
According to YBA Executive Director Sylvia Moisan, YBA is structured to help students learn through a variety of speakers, tours of area businesses, and interactive activities, designed to prove you can learn while having fun.
While attending YBA, students will have the opportunity to compete for one of the dozen $500 dollar matched scholarships offered by the YBA program to attend a South Dakota college or technical institute of their choice.
