Three-game win streak ends for Post #1 team by Jim Prosser In early April, Drew Lawrence suffered a severe muscle tear in his pitching arm and has been recuperating since then. After a few assignments at third base or as DH, he finally was able to try out the injury plagued "wing" in preparation for upcoming late season tournaments.
He started for Post #1, for a two-inning reintroduction to pitching, on Tuesday, July 8 against Lennox at Prentis Park. The results were mixed as he registered four Ks but walked two and gave up four hits for a four earned run Lennox lead.
His replacement, Kevin Bleil went 4 2/3 innings and was charged with six hits and four earned runs while registering six Ks and six BBs.
Jason Donald finished up with 2 1/3 shutout innings. However the final score in favor of Lennox was 10-6 when a late inning four-run surge was not enough to over come the early deficit.
Line score: Lennox 10 runs, 11 hits, 2 error, 8 lob; Post #1 6 runs. 13 hits, 4 errors, 9 lob.
Offense for Post #1 included B.J. Campbell's two for four batting, one run scored. Kyle Mollet scored two runs going three for five at bats; Andy Ofstehage went one for four with two runs batted in; Dan Holoch had three for five batting; Bleil went one for five with one run and one RBI; Jason Donald and Eric Rickord scored the other runs and Jared Burcham drove in a run.
Season record falls to 11 wins, 15 losses.
