Vermillion man killed in motorcycle accident by David Lias A Vermillion man was killed early Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle was struck by a trailer on the Vermillion River bridge on Highway 50 west of the city.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office was notified of the accident at approximately 1 p.m. Thursday.
Units from the sheriff's office, the Vermillion Police Department, the South Dakota Highway Patrol, and the Vermillion/Clay County Fire, Ambulance and Rescue responded to the scene.
The accident involved a pickup towing a trailer and the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, a 42-year-old Vermillion man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
The accident is being investigated by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
