Babe Ruth team plays Harrisburg Teeners by Jim Prosser On Sunday, July 20, a combined team of members from the FNB/V and V/P&R played a double header against two Harrisburg Teener teams in Harrisburg.
Game one was played versus Harrisburg Blue and became a 21-3 win for the Vermillion contingent. Jordan Boots started and shut out the home standing Blue with a two-inning stint registering three Ks, one BB, and no hits and claimed the victory. He was replaced by Jordan Merrigan who gave up one hit, three BBs, and three runs. He struck out one batter.
Nick Rasmussen and Ryan Husby led the offense, each with a double and single. Michael VanDyke contributed two singles; Matt Nelson and C.J. Haakinson each had a double; and Casey Carlson, Alex Anderson-Kahl, and Boots each collected singles.
In game two, Harrisburg Maroon out-scored Vermillion 12-8 using seven hits, three errors and five walks to dominate the visitors while Vermillion could only muster five hits. Those hits were two singles by C.J. Haakinson and individual hits by Nick Rasmussen, Casey Carlson, and Alex Anderson-Kahl. Alex Schaack pitched three innings giving up nine runs on five hits and four walks while registering four Ks.
Ryan Husby finished the game with a one-inning assignment, giving up three runs on two hits and a walk.
Harrisburg Maroon was hosting the State 14 and under Teener Tournament last weekend.
