Grant will fund Vermillion bus facility U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) has announced a $661,524 grant to South Dakota Statewide busses and bus facilities. The funding will assist Brookings Area Transit, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, and the towns of Miller and Vermillion.
"With the money that was allocated to these towns, new storage facilities will be constructed," said Johnson. "These buses log a lot of miles. It is important that we have storage units to protect them from the elements and keep them moving for as long as possible," Johnson stated.
Johnson is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which authorized the funding as part of the 2003 transportation appropriations bill. The grant was released by the Department of Transportation.
