Ladies league hosts tournament Saturday The Wednesday Evening Ladies League hosted its annual tournament Saturday, Aug. 23 at The Bluffs. This year the format was changed from a three-woman scramble to a 4-woman scramble.
The turnout was great, with 124 (or 128 Rusty wasn't sure) golfers playing a round. The weather was hot, but there was just enough breeze to keep up from stifling.
The scoring from the teams was even hotter. Winning the third flight, with a score of 69, was the Duin team (doin' great). They were closely followed for a second by the Shirley team, with a 70, and for third by the Rohrer team, also with 70.
The third place team in the second flight was the Hanson team, scoring a 66. The second place team in that flight, the Olson team, as well as the first place team, the Termansen team, also scored 66. That's right, 6 under par and these teams were at the top of the second flight. (I told you there was some hot golfing going on).
The championship flight had in it a host of teams that all shot 65, or 7 under par. But that wasn't enough to win it. The third place team in the championship flight, the Klawiter team, shot a 64. The second place team in that flight, the Ustad team, also shot a 64. Winning the championship flight, and shooting a blistering 63 was the Fokken team.
In addition to winning for great scoring there were also pin prizes on every hole. The prize and the winners are:
Hole #1: closest second shot  Pam van Meeteren;
Hole #2: longest drive  Shelby Mayer;
Hole #3: longest putt  Janelle Mergeson;
