New math teacher is welcomed by Lindsay Nelson Brian Kaup joined the Wakonda High School teaching crew this year as a math teacher.
Kaup teaches seventh- and eighth- grade math, Algebra I, Algebra II, geometry and pre-calculus.
Prior to teaching at Wakonda, he student taught in Norfolk, NE at Norfolk Catholic and then taught for a year at Hyannis, NE.
Kaup is married and he and his wife have one son, Riley, who is 8 months old.
He said he loves math and working with young peoples' minds. This was the reason for his becoming a teacher.
Kaup decided to teach math in Wakonda because he likes this part of South Dakota.
Kaup is enjoying the town and people here.
"It's a great location and a nice small town atmosphere," he said.
