Reeves receives USD scholarship Heather Reeves, the daughter of Dean Reeves and Debra Reeves Coaker of Vermillion, was awarded a scholarship to attend The University of South Dakota this fall where she will major in business and music. Reeves will receive the Promise Scholarship, which promises a minimum of $1,000 per year in scholarship assistance, renewable for a total of four years.
The Promise Scholarship is available to all first-time, full-time freshmen who attend the Vermillion campus and have an ACT score of at least 24 or SAT score of at least 1100. In order to continue receiving the scholarship, students must average 30 credit hours per year and maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
An excellent student, Reeves maintained a 4.0 GPA at Vermillion High School, for which she was named to the national honor roll and ranked first in her graduating class. She was involved in marching band and show choir and is a five-time national baton chamption. Reeves earned a listing in the prestigious Who's Who of America's High School Students.
