USD names AD search committee University of South Dakota President James W. Abbott has named nine individuals to serve on a search committee for the university's next athletic director.
According to Abbott, the athletic director search will begin immediately and be conducted on a national level.
"The USD's athletic director position is one of the great jobs in Division II," said Abbott. "We have winning teams, outstanding student athletes, and some of the nation's best coaches and supporters who care deeply about the university and its athletic programs."
Julie Greenfield of Sioux Falls has been named to chair the nine-member search committee. Greenfield is currently serving as a member of the University's Athletics Review Committee and is a member of the Coyote Sports Hall of Fame.
Other members of the search committee include: Denny Duncan (USD '70, J.D. '73), a lawyer from Parker; USD chemistry Professor Tina Keller, Vermillion; Susan Tuve, vice president, U.S. Trust Company of Minneapolis, MN; head basketball coach Dave Boots; soccer head coach Jessica Maddox of Vermillion; Dale Schuster (USD '74), senior vice president of broad:margin from Omaha, NE; USD Chief Information Officer Roberta Ambur of Yankton; and Jamie Stapleton from Dakota Dunes representing the Student Association.
The review of applications will begin in early September with an appointment expected later this year.
Earlier this summer, Kelly Higgins stepped down as athletic director. Higgins was named to the position in 1998. Greg Redlin, the university's vice president for Finance and Administration, was named interim athletic director, effective July 1.
