Community foundation at 87% of fund-raising goal The Vermillion Area Community Foundation has announced it has raised $87,000 of its $100,000 goal since November 2002.
The foundation has until October 31 to raise an additional $13,000 in order to receive matching funds of $25,000 from the South Dakota Community Foundation.
The Vermillion Area Community Foundation is a part of the South Dakota Community Foundation and focuses on attracting and distributing charitable gifts to improve economic development and the overall quality of life in the Vermillion area.
Young Moore, founder of the foundation, is pleased to announce that the foundation successfully funded its first project in April with a gift of $1,540 for 16 communication devices for the Vermillion Police Department and the Clay County Sheriff's Department.
"The communication devices have greatly enhanced the officers' ability to perform in the line of duty," said Police Chief Art Mabry.
The Community Foundation Board continues to actively solicit support and hopes members of the Vermillion community will consider making a contribution and/or a bequest to achieve the $100,000 goal by the end of October.
Please send your gifts to the Vermillion Area Community Foundation at PO Box 342, Vermillion, SD 57069. For more information, contact Moore at 624-2927 or Rollie French at 624-4220.
