Eagles junior high win opening game The Irene/Wakonda Eagles junior high football team started its season with an impressive win over Viborg 22-6. Leading the scoring effort was Matthew Davis hauling in two 20-yard touchdown passes thrown by Josh Nielson.

Capping off the scoring for the Eagles was Jordan Mayer with a two-yard run. The extra points were scored by Nielson and Mayer.

Defensively, the blue shirts held the Viborg offense in check with a great team effort. Leading the way for the Eagle's defense was Eric Anderson and Skyler Bender with two quarterback sacks apiece. Way to go Eagles!

The junior high football team will travel to Scotland to play in the Highlander junior high football jamboree Saturday, Sept. 13. Since it is the Highland Festival there is an admission charge of $5 per person or $10 per family. The schedule for the team is as follows:

10 a.m.: Trip-Delmont vs. Irene-Wakonda, south side of field; 12:15 p.m.: Irene-Wakonda vs. Scotland, south side of field; and 1:45 p.m. Irene-Wakonda vs. Montrose, south side of field.
