Hometown girl joins Wakonda teaching staff by Lindsay Nelson Hometown girl Stacy Olson attended all of her school years in Wakonda and is now here to teach.

Olson is teaching sixth grade and this is her first year as a classroom teacher. She spent half of last year as a one on one teacher assistant in Harrisburg.

"I love working with children and helping them grow and succeed in everything they do," she said.

Olson is married to Jeremy Olson and together they have one daughter, Taylor, who is in first grade this year at Wakonda School. Her parents, Don and Janice Lyso, also live in Wakonda.

Olson wanted to teach in Wakonda because she has always been a part of the Wakonda community and was given the opportunity to continue that role.

"I love teaching in Wakonda," she said. "I feel Wakonda has a great school system and I am glad to be a part of it."
