How much will opting-out cost?

How much will opting-out cost? To calculate how much the proposed opt-out of the property tax freeze will cost you should it be approved by voters Tuesday:

Determine the taxable value of your property. Multiply that figure by .001. Then multiply that figure by $.949763 for agricultural property; $1.221902 for non-ag-z; $1.529419 for home owners; $3.276548 for commercial and utility.

Using these calculations:

* The property taxes on a piece of ag land valued at $100,000 will increase $94.97 per year of the five-year opt-out period.

* The property taxes on a home valued at $100,000 will increase $152.94 per year of the five-year opt-out period.

* The property taxes on commercial and utility real estate valued at $100,000 will increase $327.65 per year of the five-year opt-out period.
