Coach Barb Rickord watched her charges as they lost again in a match to non-conference opponent Roosevelt on Friday, Sept. 5 at Kuehn Park courts in Sioux Falls, by a 9-0 score.

Singles: Kacie Meyers(R) def Jessica Leffers 10-0; Krista Ekert(R) def Michelle Rydell 10 -0; Megan Hamre(R) def Savanna Day 10-3; Allison Ekert(R) def Lauren Higgins 10-0; Ellen Kramer(R) def Sarah Roetman 10-0.

Doubles: Meyers/A. Ekert def Leffers/Rydell 10-0; K. Ekert/Kramer def Higgins/ Coleman 10-1; Hamre/Olson def Day/Roetman 10-1.

"Roosevelt has a very strong team this year so we knew they would be tough," coach Rickord said. "All of our girls were able to stay in the points with their opponents and facing better players helps us improve, so there is more to these matches than the scores indicate.

It's good to have Savannah back, playing varsity single and doubles, and she had a very good first match of her season," she said. "We are glad we could add Roosevelt to our schedule. Unfortunately, Luverne was unable to play us due to bussing conflicts. We also took six JV members who all gained some good experience."

In JV singles, the Tanagers were swept: Tommie Herrman(R) def Dru Daniels 8-0; Susan Puetz def Liz Day 8-0; Jessica Mootz def Shanon Skillman(V) 8-0; Emily Gullickson def Alecia Hesla(V) 8-3; Mateja Cuselli def Taiana Hayes(V) 8-0; and Ashley O'Hara def Amanda Granaas (V) 8-1.
