has hot putters
Forty-four seniors were ready for golf after the heavy rains of last week caused a cancellation for Senior Men's Fun League golfers.
Scores were very competitive and the course was in great shape. Our winning team had a fine score of 33 showing four birdies on their card. We congratulate Max Andersen, Louie Fostvedt, Bob Landow and Tim O'Connor for this fine score.
Our other prize winners were at 34, Bob Solomon, Pat Boyle, Howard Connors and Quentin Oleson along with Mo Marcotte, Joe Conroy, Dave Zimmer and Vern Christensen. Next in line at 37 we had Vern Holter, Jim Reed, Pete Berglund and Lloyd Helseth along with the team of Harlan Schott, Bill Rasmussen, Duncan McGregor and Ron Steckelberg.
Putting seemed to be our long suit this date. In fact, 13 birdies were recorded. Today our shot-of-the-day honors go to these five putters: David Bak, Jim Reed, Mo Marcotte, Bob Landow, Max Andersen, Quentin Oleson, Howard Connors and Pat Boyle.
Play will move to the fall schedule next week, so on Sept. 23 we start at 1 p.m. The senior noon lunch will be available at 11:45 a.m. Remember the new time starts on Sept. 23. We hope to see all of you for these fine fall golf days.
mind the rain
Rain how nice our prayers were answered, but really didn't want it on Wednesday, Sept. 19, but it was enjoyed. Of course no one could play and find that hazards attract and fairways repel.
Twenty-nine ladies enjoyed Cherry Street Grille's "plain"? hamburgers and salads. Delicious bars were served by Jo Ellen Tipton, Thelma Raines and Peggy Mollet.
Pat Berglund delivered the results of our sign up for duties and our chairpersons for 2004 are Jeanne Van Balen and Pat Steckleberg. The $5 membership went to Dorothy Dahlman.
Pat Olson read a eulogy written by Elizabeth Merrigan, a relative of Dorothy Dahlman, about Dorothy who recently had a birthday.
Jan Uhl thanked our president, Pat Berglund, for being a willing and great president this past year. She was greeted by a round of applause. Thanks Pat!
There were eight domino players (and it was an unnaturally quiet group). High went to Ardyce Meisenholder and low to Bev Mount. Medium point went to Vaneta Youngworth.
Four tables of bridge were played. The travel prizes went to Jeanne Van Balen and Meryl Reed. Other prizes went to those whose serve was closest to 2,000.
Winners were Reidella Engman, Robin Eisenmenger, Jo Ellen Tipton and Meryl Reed. Two score cards had markings on the back and who ever had these won a prize lucky ladies were Pat Berglund and Robin Eisenmenger.
Can you believe only two more meetings this year? Come quick or you'll miss us.
