Vermillion golf team scores win at Yankton by Jim Prosser VHS golf coach Kirk Hogen was hoping for a team score near 330 to perhaps scrape a win over the Yankton Bucks at The Bluffs last Friday, Sept. 5. "If we can outscore a double A school like Yankton, we'll take it, even if its close!" he said.
Fortunately the Tanagers' 320 score was enough to overcome the Bucks score of 321 for the victory. The 18 hole dual match included the varsity and two JV squads.
The Bucks' Ty Dannenbring was medalist with a 75. Chris Moen was the Tanagers' low man at 77. Alex Schaack scored a 78 and Brad Schaack a 81 followed by Broc Gauer, 84, and Nathan Boots, 86.
There were two JV teams competing � one group played only nine holes. The Bucks #1 JV team overpowered the young Tanager JVs 335 � 367.
Vermillion individual scoring was: Charles Odsen, 88; Mikal Ustad, 92; Ryan Powell, 93; Daren Martin, 94; Jack Higgins, 99; and Danial Davies, 117.
The #2 JV team scores were: Yankton � 125; Vermillion � 196. Individual scores include Anthony Nelson, 58; Austin Martinson, 66; and Tyler Vlassman, 72 for the Tanagers.
