VFW hosts scholarship competition

VFW hosts scholarship competition The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3061 of Vermillion and its Ladies Auxiliary offers an annual scholarship competition for high school students in the area.

The competition is called The Voice of Democracy and is made available to all ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The national competition is designed to give high school students the opportunity to voice their opinion on America as they consider their commitment to our nation's future.

Local, district, state and national scholarship awards are available. National awards are now totaling over $143,500 with first place at $25,000. This year's theme is "My Commitment to America's Future" and the deadline for student entry is Nov. 1.
