60 participate in bike-a-thon Nearly 60 riders took part in the bike-a-thon for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on Sept. 21.
The ride started at Jolley School and on to Burbank. The riders brought in $3,030.
The ride was done in memory of Dexter Johnson who passed away from cancer last May. He was in the sixth-grade class at the Vermillion Middle School.
Patrick Haught was the winner of the CD boom box. Cody Sargent won the bike. Other winners will be announced at a later date. Bike ride shirts will be delivered to the schools in four weeks.
Mary Geffre Johnson, bike ride coordinator, thanks everyone who supported the ride. Donations can still be sent to Johnson, 1516 E. Cherry St., Vermillion. The goal for the event is $3,500.
"Please help us to make that goal for this worth cause," she said.
