Boys' golf team places 3rd at state by Jim Prosser The Tanager golf team placed third with a 671 score at the 2003 State Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 6-7 at the Madison Country Club Golf Course.
Eleven schools and 55 individuals were entered. Madison was first (611) and Milbank second (670), while Lead finished in fourth.
Madison's James Green won the first place medal with a two-day score of 147.
Four Tanager golfers were in the top 20 scorers and earned place medals. Chris Moen was ninth at 163; Nathan Boots was 13th at 168, Brad Schaack placed 16th with 170; and Alex Schaack was 18th with a 171. Jordan Boots had a 176 two-day total which put him 23rd.
Coach Kirk Hogen made the following team awards: Letter winners � the five participants at state and Broc Gauer. Team Captain � Nathan Boots; Most Valuable � Nathan Boots and Brad Schaack; Most Improved � Jordan Boots; Academic All State � Nathan Boots.
