Girls' tennis team loses at Sioux Falls O'Gorman by Jim Prosser On Thursday, Sept. 25 at McKennan Park courts in Sioux Falls, the Tanager girls' tennis team lost to Sioux Falls O'Gorman by a 9-0 score.
Singles: Sarah Lamberty (O) def. Jessica Leffers 10-0; Allie Hoffmann (O) def. Michelle Rydell 10-3; Catherine Goraj (O) def. Lauren Higgins 10-3; Meredith Peterson (O) def. Sarah Roetman 10-1; Mary Johnson (O) def. Zazzee Coleman 10-1; and Ashley Millette (O) def. Lindsay Morecraft 10- 2.
Doubles: Jillian Hurley/Peterson def. Leffers /Rydell 10-2; Goraj/Megan Arend def. Higgins/Coleman 10-2; and Hoffman/Johnson def. Day/Roetman 10-1.
"I was pleased with how everyone played against O'Gorman," said coach Barb Rickord. "The Tanagers executed a lot of excellent points, and made the O'Gorman girls earn those games. O'Gorman will not be in contention for the state title this year, as they have in recent ones, but they have a solid team with a lot of depth.
"Our girls continue to improve by playing better opponents ��this is how they learn," she continued. "Also, it's always fun to play the McKennan Park courts, too."
In JV singles the Tanagers were swept: Arend (O) def. Liz Day 10-0; Hurley (O) def. Dasha Erkina 10-0; and Ali McDavell (O) def. Shanon Skillman (V) 6-1.
