Merrigan named chair of water organization Greg Merrigan, manager of the Clay Rural Water System, Wakonda, has been selected as chair of the South Dakota Section of the American Water Works Association.
The American Water Works Association is the largest organization at the state and regional level.
The South Dakota section recently held its 44th annual meeting in Spearfish.
Merrigan has been employed as manager of the Clay Rural Water System since 1982 and has been an active member of AWWA for many years. He has served in several capacities for the SD section in the past. As chair he will direct the activities of the section for the coming year which include many technical and educational programs.
The Clay Rural Water System annually pumps, treats and delivers over 155 million gallons of water to over 1,600 rural farms, residences and businesses in a five county area in southeast South Dakota. Its headquarters are located east of Wakonda.
