Tanager JV football team tops Heelan by Jim Prosser In a crisply played football game, the Tanager JV team scored in the second and third quarters as they held Heelan to a TD in the third for a 12-8 win at the Heelan High School football field in Sioux City, IA, on Monday, Oct. 6.
Ben Oberle had an 80-yard run for a TD, and Mike Hanson was on the receiving end of a 70-yard pass from Kyle Brunick (both 2-point conversion attempts failed).
Individual offensive stats: Oberle � 156 yards/24 carries); Hanson caught 2 passes totaling 78 yards and Kyle Mollet gained 4 yards on a pass from Brunick.
A stiff defense had some sterling efforts: Jordan Anderson and Ryan Mockler each were credited with 9 tackles; Mollet had 7 Ts, 2 breakups, a QB sack and a pass intercept; Brunick � 7 Ts, 1 breakup; Donny Stewart � 6 Ts, 1 fumble recovery; Jacob Geis � 5 Ts, fumble recovery; J.J. LaMie � 4 Ts, 2 pass breakups.
