Sunshine, warmth greet senior golfers
Sunshine and warm temperatures made Tuesday, Oct. 21 a great day for golf at The Bluffs. Scores were good and matches were extremely close. In fact, 10 of the 12 teams scored in the 30s and recorded nine birdies.
We congratulate our winners for a fine score of 35 Jerry Ochs, Duncan McGregor and Lloyd Helseth led all teams today. Jerry Ochs is a guest from Oklahoma and a former resident of Vermillion.
Our other prize winners were, at 36, three teams, Jim Stewart, Dave Zimmer, Ardell Hatch and Sid Davis, then Mo Marcotte, Don Baer and Quentin Oleson, and finally David Bak, Dick Munkvold and Louie Fostvedt. There were four teams at 37 and three teams are prize winners, Dave Raabe, Ron Brown and Vern Christensen, then Alan Clem, Bob Lund, Cleland Cook and Howard Conners, and finally Mel Marcotte, Ken Beringer and Gene Iverson.
Shot of the day honors go to Don Baer for his 51-foot chip in for a birdie on #16.
We are thankful for these great October days and for this excellent golf course at The Bluffs in Vermillion. Having 42 seniors today tells you the seniors enjoy and appreciate this great course.
We hope the weather holds and we can continue to play.
