Clubs Dakota Gardens celebrate Halloween
Residents of Dakota Gardens enjoyed a great Halloween party.
"Live-in" members appeared wearing characters representing a dancing Charleston lady, singing Elvis Presley, jeweled lady in black, FBI officers, witches goblins, ghosts and many other characters who enjoyed the games and prizes. Pictures were taken as a remembrance for the scrap book.
Hosting the party were Sioux Valley activity staff who provided games, prizes, pizza and cookies.
Hospital auxiliary elects new officers
The Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital and Care Center Auxiliary met Nov. 7 and announced their new slate of officers for October 2003 through September 2005.
The new officers are: president, Maxine Mellette; vice president, Hazel Vennard; treasurer, Evelyn Hermanson; and secretary, Marge Rasmussen.
The auxiliary has been very active in cooperating with the care center and hospital and intends to expand this service in the coming years.
New members are always welcome. If you are interested, contact a current member or come to a meeting. The meetings are held the first Friday of each month at 2 p.m. in the care center dining room.
Seniors try their luck at center
On Monday, Nov. 19, 14 dominoes players came to try their luck on such a beautiful fall day.
At table 1 of seven players, Marlene Amundsen had 457 and June Munkvold won with 110 points. At table 2 of seven players, Robin Eisenmenger had 394 and Darlene Engbrecht won with 244 points.
On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the wind blew and scattered the leaves every direction. This did not stop 32 pitch, four pinochle and 18 bridge players that arrived at the center for the afternoon. Bridge winners were Maurice Erickson, first; Jim Prosser, second; Leona Kryger, third; Luceal Liffengren, blind bogey and Bob Michael, low.
Lunch was furnished by the center.
