The Vermillion VFW post acquired a used mailbox, painted it bright red, and clearly marked it as a U.S. flag disposal container. People with worn flags may simply drop them into the box, which is located just north of the Public Safety Center near the Clay County Courthouse. Demonstrating the procedure for disposing flags in the box are Leonard Bottolfson, VFW quartermaster, Ray Hofman, Clay County veterans service officer, and Andy Howe, VFW commander.
