United Way seeks volunteer nominations Two years ago United Way of Vermillion established an annual Vermillion Volunteer of the Year Award to be presented at the Vermillion Chamber of Commerce and Development Company banquet each January.
The 2001 Volunteer of the Year was Young Moore, III. Carol Geu, who was the 2002 Volunteer of the Year, is serving as honorary chairman of the 2004 United Way of Vermillion Campaign.
Nominees are sought who exemplify the best traditions of volunteerism in America. The honoree will have a sustained record of giving of his/her time and other resources for the improvement of the community in a broad range of activities.
A committee of seven members representative of the city, the school district, the churches, the Chamber of Commerce, and other non-profit organizations will be selected by the United Way of Vermillion Board of Directors to evaluate the nominations and to select the winner of the award. No member of this committee will be eligible for nomination for the award.
All United Way member agencies, other non-profit agencies, and the general public are encouraged to submit nominations for the Vermillion Volunteer of the Year Award. Nomination forms can be obtained from United Way of Vermillion at 624-5354 or from Executive Director Barbara Campbell at 624-4626.
The completed nomination forms will be due by Friday, Dec. 5. Forms will automatically be mailed to all 2003 United Way agencies.
