Anderson, Mueller lead USD to victory Behind a pair of double-doubles from juniors Steve Anderson and Josh Mueller, the fifth-ranked South Dakota men's basketball team (7-1) defeated Doane College, 90-68, Friday night in nonconference action at the DakotaDome.
Anderson, of Rapid City, had a season-high 14 rebounds and tied a season-high with 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Mueller, of Hartford, recorded a season-high 14 assists and poured in 20 points, including 3-of-5 3-pointers.
Junior guard Vincent McGill, Paterson, NJ, tied Mueller for the game-high point total with 20 points. McGill connected on 5-of-10 3-pointers.
As a team, the Coyotes shot a season-high 54.3 percent from the field (38-of-70), including 11-of-28 3-pointers (39.3 percent). In addition, USD tied a season-low with just 10 turnovers.
South Dakota went into the halftime break up 52-36 and pushed its lead to as many as 37 points with a 28-7 run over the first 10 minutes of the second half to take control of the game with an 80-43 lead.
Redshirt freshman Brock Seim, LeGrand, IA, scored a season-high 15 points and added seven rebounds in 29 minutes of action.
Senior forward Derek Paben, Pickrell, NE, was USD's fifth player in double figures with 12 points and five assists.
