Committee to begin football coach search University of South Dakota Athletic Director Joel Nielsen has named a search committee for the university's next head football coach.
According to Nielsen, the football coach search has started and will be conducted on a national level.
"We will move this process along as quickly and efficiently as we can," Nielsen said. "We are focused on finding the right leader for a South Dakota football program that has a long tradition of excellence. We will make a decision that is in the best interest of our student-athletes, the athletics program, and The University of South Dakota."
Nielsen will chair the search committee. Other members include Tom Davies, a business professor and Athletic Board of Control member; Tyler Beisch, a USD student who sits on the Athletic Board of Control; Bruce Fischbach, head athletic trainer at USD; Josh Gassen, a senior and team captain of the South Dakota football team; Jack Doyle, former athletic director now on the USD Foundation staff; Kim Zarling, compliance officer, senior women's administrator and softball coach; Gary Culver, a former Coyote player and longtime head football coach at Vermillion High School; and Kathy Jorgensen, a member of the Athletic Board of Control and EEO representative.
