Eagles receive post-season football honors An awards banquet was held in Wakonda on Tuesday, Nov. 25 to give post-season honors to the Eagles football players.
A potluck meal was served buffet style. Then, "Skip" Graff recounted some of the history and highlights of Irene and Wakonda over the last 50 years. Following Graff's speech, awards were handed out to Eagles players.
This year's Iron Man winners were: Freshman � Brock Mutchelknaus; Sophomore � Shaun Hessman; Junior � Alex Nielsen; Senior � Brett Mellem.
Five Eagles received Tri-Valley Conference All-Conference recognition. Honorable mention was awarded to Brett Anderson and Brett Logue. Anderson is the son of Mark and Pat Anderson. Logue is the son of Robert and Christina Logue.
Three players were named to the All-Conference squad: Brett Mellem, Brandon Parvin, and Jeremy Rempp were the picks of the conference coaches. Mellem is the son of Pete and Sharon Van Driel. Parvin is the son of Larry and Judy Parvin. Rempp is the son of Don Rempp and Amy Mellegaard. Rempp also received honorable mention 9AA All-State recognition.
Team awards voted on by the players were then handed out to conclude the evening. Players receiving the awards were: Most Valuable Practice Player � Adam Polley; Most Valuable Lineman � Jeremy Rempp; Most Improved � Jeff Heier; Most Valuable Defense � Brett Mellem; Most Valuable Offense � Brandon Parvin; Most Valuable Overall � Jeremy Rempp.
The Eagles finished with a 2-3 TVC record, and they were 3-6 overall.
