Elk Point author announces new book Estella Mae Slattery of Elk Point has announced the publication of her new book of fiction titled Jeremiah's God.
The story begins in the 1920s in the Midwest, and features three or four main characters, covering three generations. Widower Jeremiah Guttermann marries a young Irish woman and brings her to his Midwest farm. She brings with her a culture of superstition. This leads to situations which, no doubt, could bring about re-examining some old attitudes.
Slattery was born the year of the World War I armistice and has lived in the same South Dakota county most of her life. She earned two degrees from The University of South Dakota, became an English teacher, and married a teacher and former football hero. She is the mother of six living children and the proud grandmother of 13. The roles of mother, grandmother, and a life-long Roman Catholic have afforded her many interesting challenges and inspired her writing.
Her book is available at Barnes & Noble, Pioneer Drug in Elk Point, iUniverse.com, amazon.com and from the author at Elk Point.
