Eslinger earns professional award for contributions Theresa Eslinger of Stanley, WI, a graduate student and the Beede Hall Director at The University of South Dakota, was awarded the Upper Midwest Region- Association of College and University Housing Officers (UMR-ACUHO) Outstanding New Professional (Bachelor's Level) Award on Nov. 5.
Eslinger was nominated for her contributions to the development of the First Year Experience hall and working in conjunction with the First Year Experience Program.
"This award means a great deal to me," said Eslinger. "It represents all my years of hard work as a student leader and employment through residential life services. I put my heart into everything that I do and hope that my work serves the university, supervisors, co-workers, and the students to their expectations. I am always willing to take a chance and stand for what I believe when it will benefit the institution. Through my creativity, energy, and hard work I hope to make a difference whenever possible."
Eslinger was one of two recipients of this award at the annual conference. This award is given annually to recognize outstanding ability and potential as a new professional in college student housing. The recipient must display creativity in problem solving, a commitment to their own professional development, and have sought to improve skills and knowledge of colleagues, paraprofessional staff or residents. She was nominated by several members of the university housing staff.
